Leaders of Nakaloke Centre Mosque have announced a special Juma prayer scheduled for June 5, 2026, to be presided over by the Mufti of Uganda, Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, as guest of honour.
Sheikh Salman Farish, the Imam of Nakaloke Centre Mosque, and Hajji Muzamil Hirome, the NRM Chairperson for Mbale City, shared the update on Salam TV during a discussion with Abdussalaam Ali Kinobe, County Director of Salam Charity.
They said the visit will be used to brief the Mufti on construction progress and seek broader support to complete the project.
The mosque project, spearheaded by Salam Charity, began following appeals for support from the late Dr Hassan Waswa Galiwango and the late Hajj Nasser King, both of whom were key supporters of the organisation and its community initiatives. Once completed, the mosque is expected to become the second largest in Uganda after Kampala’s Gaddafi National Mosque, featuring modern facilities.
Construction has reached an advanced stage but remains incomplete. President Museveni has previously supported the project, though leaders say additional funding is still required before it can be officially handed over to the community.
“We are grateful to everyone who supported us during construction, but we still need more support from people nationwide and internationally to help us finish the mosque,” Sheikh Salman Farish said.
Hajji Muzamil Hirome echoed the appeal, noting the need for continued mobilisation of resources.
“Although President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni supported us during the construction, the mosque is still incomplete. We kindly request his further support to help us complete it,” he said.
The public has been invited to attend the June 5 Juma prayer at Nakaloke Centre Mosque in Mbale as leaders intensify efforts to secure final contributions needed to complete the facility.
